OUTSIDE PLAY
All Kindergarten and K/One classes will be participating in more outdoor activities this term. Children will be spending an additional 20 minutes outside learning each day. We will explore various outdoor games, activities, nature and science topics. This week, children have already learned the game of 4 Square and skipping skills. Please remember to send your child with appropriate clothing for our Westcoast weather. Children are expected to bring rainboots (rather than snowboots), rain pants and waterproof jackets, hats and gloves on rainy days. We do have some extra rain boots and small sized rain pants, as well as gloves for kids to borrow if they get wet or have forgotten gear. Please also remember replenish wet socks and/or soiled clothing.
Thank you!!! If you have any concerns or questions please let us know.
Welcome to our classroom website!
This will act as a virtual window into our classroom. We will post messages about what we are learning at school and include photo documentation of our learning process on our Blog page.
This is also a place where you can access resources (for parents and students) that support what the children are learning at school. Please explore the site at your leisure and be sure to share it with family members to encourage dialogue about school and what we are learning. We will notify you by email each time we update the site at least once a week. Please let us know if you would like to add any additional email addresses to our list so that you and additional family members can stay informed.
This website is for you! If you have any suggestions about how we can make it more useful in extending your child's learning into your home, please feel free to let us know! We welcome comments on photographs and of course you can always contact us through the site.
We hope you find this useful and enjoy seeing what your child is up to at school!
Looking forward to a great year!

PROGRAM ELEMENTS:
Literacy:
Jolly Phonics Reading Program is a fun and child centered approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers, who can see their students achieve. The letter sounds are split into seven groups as shown below. Each week we will learn and review 2-3 letters, their sounds and how to form the letter (upper and lower case). If you want to work on these letters at home with your child, please follow this order.
